I'm fairly certain that Denny & the gang want all YL areas to use the term 'Campaigners' for the sake of continuity and tradition. Personally, I like the term as it connects us with the pioneers of YL. Also, it's uniquely YL. I'm not sure if changing the name to something else has as much power as this article suggests...

Amy, I'll email you also... but basically this is aimed only at people a year or so out of high school and it is a year commitment. If someone doesn't fall in those categories then I do a traditional 4-6 once-a-week meeting with them for our traditional new leader training.

The FYL group is #1 a Bible study to grow and #2 leader training (in that order... and quite a few do not become leaders, either because they don't want to, or I don't feel they are ready).

I think there are a ton of ways to use this clip.

For the prodigal son I would use it for when the son returns. In Luke 15:17 it says the son "came to his senses". To me this is a key phrase of the story about repentance and "return". The question that remains, is "how is the father going to respond". This clip shows the heart of God the Father toward us His children. I could see using this clip in the middle of the talk, or when you get to Lk 15:17.

Sometimes using a powerful clip at the end can distract from the main point. That is why I suggest using it in the middle, or near the end, but not at the very end.

i remember seeing this at camp once but do not remember the outline of the talk in general...would you be able to share how you would set the talk up as far as the best time to show the clip in a talk coupled with the prodigal son?

Thanks for this idea. I had never considered liking a talk like this to Prom, but our kid's Prom is this weekend, and we are going through Person of Christ Talks, and this is really helpful. Thanks for sharing!

If you have three announcements have three cups with the announcement written in the bottom of the clear cup. Bring the cup in one at a time. Have a kid or leader down the water and goldfish and then read the announcement. Same thing with the second one. On the third one have a small carrot in the cup, or a goldfish in it and the leader has a small carrot hidden in their hand that they quickly put in their mouth. They make it seem like they are choking (while chewing the carrot), and then spit the chewed up carrot pieces into the crowd. The key is having the crowd see the live fish in the first two cups.
