About
This is a blog where I hope to help YL leaders. We need easy access to info so we can focus more time on relationships. I hope this helps.
Sean
I am a YL leader in Phoenix, AZ. I am a nerd and went to ASU and have a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I worked in plastic injection molding and have lots of fun stories about that (seriously). I also was a Product Manager for a great company in Spokane, WA, which was rad. I graduated with an M.Div with a Leadership focus from Phoenix Seminary. I have also done some post-grad work at Fuller and Wheaton Graduate Schools. I love my family, my high school sweetheart wife and my three super kids (one of them is convinced he is a super hero called the “Incredible Lightning”). I like to play golf, coach high school basketball (go Pioneers!), play basketball (go me!), and read a lot. I’ve also done a lot of skits and thousands of people have seen my belly jiggle. I’m trying to quit that.

Brooks | October 16, 2008 | 6:59 amHi! This site is really fun and helpful! My team and I have had a lot of laughs – One big question:
I really like the layout for your club plans. How can I find something like that or how could I use yours??
Thanks!
Brooks, thanks! The layout is just stuff from Microsoft Word.
PHSYL | October 16, 2008 | 12:30 pmBrooks, thanks! The layout is just stuff from Microsoft Word. I started posting pdfs but quickly switched to Word documents so people can just edit them to their liking. So just find one that is in Word and edit or delete as much as you want.
I am a volunteer Young Life leader in San Diego.
Scott Urban | September 20, 2009 | 5:08 pmI am a volunteer Young Life leader in San Diego. We are beginning a bible study at a new high school (no Young Life exists yet).
At our bible study we are looking for an exciting DVD resource that presents a 15-20 minute video of a topic. We would then break-up in boy/girl groups to discuss the topic. We weren’t crazy about the Nooma videos, but would like something similar that would allow are christian kids to go deeper. PLEASE HELP!!!!
We’d appreciate anyone’s suggestions. Please email me at urbbydog@yahoo.com.
Thanks!
Scott
Scott, I'd love to say I knew of a good
PHSYL | September 21, 2009 | 10:50 pmScott, I’d love to say I knew of a good one. I’ve searched high and low over the last few years, but I don’t think anything is really out there that I know of. I’ve thought a lot about it though. What would you be looking for in a set of videos? What topics, what format (interview, informational, stories?), etc…?
Great work on the site man. I love checking
John Martin | November 30, 2009 | 12:51 pmGreat work on the site man. I love checking up on it to get ideas and resources for stuff. I’m on staff in Charleston, SC and wanted to share with you some videos we’ve made in the past few years.
This one in particular was pretty powerful at our banquet. Check it out if you’d like. It really shows parents why YL is good for their kids.

Hey Sean- you know what would be awesome? Club flyer
Scott | January 26, 2010 | 4:40 pmHey Sean- you know what would be awesome? Club flyer templates complete with humor bits, puzzles etc. downloadable into word, pages, whatever… just sayin’- any idea if such templates exist for YL? I’m always trying to find something funny to put on them…and it’s an enormous time drain.
Scott, I don't have anything like. Its a good idea
PHSYL | January 26, 2010 | 10:13 pmScott, I don’t have anything like. Its a good idea though! I suppose if I find some time I could put some together. I use Publisher for my fliers. What do you use?
