It wasn't all that new. I basically had leaders spell out the words "Young Life" with poster board, each with a letter on it. That way I introduced each leader, their club and let them say a quick word, which sets them up with kids from up front and then also keeps it interesting. Here are my notes from the talk. It worked well for a 5 minutes into talk to 250 distracted high school kids! Haha! Dodgeball talk Sean: YL is super hard to explain so I’m going to let some leaders tell you… (Each leader comes out one at a time with a poster with one letter on it. Then the leader gets one or two sentences…. 15 seconds… to use the letter they have to talk about YL. Here are suggestions. Let me know if you have another idea). Y – (Steve W) You… You are always invited to YL… Yes YOU! O – (Wil W) Oh my gosh or Outrageous… surprising things happen at YL (throw something at them?) U – (Ashlee Henderson) Unbelievable … N – (Alex) Not HW… YL is a break from all the demands of the week, a place to relax and just be a kid G – (Brittany H)… Guy… Girls… need I say more? L – (Alli)… Leaders… people to talk to. Not your parents. Just someone who will help and understand I – (Jake) …Indescribable. You have to see it to “get it”. OR Interesting (something meaningful to think about each week) F – (Kia)…Friends. Meet great people at YL. Bring your friends. We get to know each other pretty good. E – Tim)… Everyone is invited. Sportos, Band people, Stugo… it doesn’t matter what clique you are in. Religious, atheist, Christian, Muslim, EVERYONE! SEAN… So gives you a little bit of an idea. If there is one thing that ties all this together it is this… He who has the son [Jesus Christ the son of God] has life. (1 Jn 5:12) All of us leaders are amazed and in awe of Jesus Christ and we experience life in a whole different way because of Him.
