Did a variation of the "Don't Fumble" mixer on Monday. Here's how we set it up: I had cut strips of bed sheets (green for packers and yellow for steelers) about 2 inches wide and 2-3 feet long, enough for every kid to have one and evenly split between the 2 colors. Split the room in half and leaders helped kids tie the strips around both knees, making them waddle, and colors designating the 2 teams. We used balloons for the football. Players could only take two steps with the ball before passing it, like ultimate frisbee. If a balloon popped, which happenned surprisingly often, we treated it like a fumble and threw a new balloon in randomly in the room. A leader on each end were the goal posts, holding their hands up and everything. For a touchdown kids could "touch the leaders (goal post leader) face with the balloon" which was fun to watch. Field goal for throwing the balloon through goal post arms. We did a coin flip in the beginning and had kids kick off after every score. One of our leaders has an uncanny talent for energetic play by play announcing while inserting kids names and making local/relevant references which I think helped the game a lot. Huge success, I think they would have played all night if we let them.

We used the "Don't Fumble" mixer in Club on Monday and it was a huge hit! I was a big doubter at first, given it only requires brown balloons and a large enough room for kids to run around, but the simplicity is what made it great. Amazing what you can do with a balloon and a big room... Thanks!!
