Jason, thanks for asking.

In the prodigal son story (Lk 15), one of the things that the father gives the son is a ring. It is a sign of "family", being reunited with his father. Earlier in the week I talk about how we were designed to be in a relationship with God and I introduce the ring. In the sin talk I take off my wedding ring (actually a fake one) and throw it across the room or stage or whatever. I mention it is not my real ring, but that is what we have done to God through our sin.

At the last talk I have a bunch of rings (got them as Party City in the engagement party section) and ask people if they want to come back to God in a committed relationship. I take a second to talk about how God's commitment to us is strong than ours, but I do stress the commitment. Kids can take them and use them as a springboard to talk about their response to God.

I'd be happy to give you more details if you are interested.

I'm curious about your ring analogy...could you forward me how you used it throughout your talks?

Thank you! Take care and God bless.
