Thug Club

Thug Life Yes, we did Thug club Monday. The kids came dressed krunk and all. We played lots of hip-hop music. Ironically it was the first week we had Rock Band out to play before club so there was a little contrast between the two. It was funny to see a thug-ed out kid playing the Rock Band drums to Nirvana.

The funniest part was "pimp my ride". Foil was everywhere. The skit is a tricky one, it can come off rude way too easily. The rap challenge was fun. I’ve included the rhyming words sheet below.

thank you so much for this site! I love it!
When I did the skit for the game, I think God gave me a great idea. I used foil to make a grill. The kids loved it and wound up making their own grills.

We switched up the game a bit and had the girls decorate my car and the guys decorate a guy leader’s car–because we needed help being cool. And pimpin’ ain’t easy.

Hey, So I’m in charge of music and we’re doing thug club! But, I’m having trouble with one more fast song (we were going to so single ladies by Beyonce, but some of us felt funny with one of the lines in the song to be singing with the lyrics up on the screen), any suggestions that was fun for Thug Club?

Tracy, I sent you an email but we have done… Fresh Prince / Ice Ice Baby / This is Why I’m Hot / Killing Me Softly / Lean on Me / Umbrella…. those should work

Hey we really need to go away from calling it Thug Club,,,,,it just has a negative reaction to it…..especially when you you know what the word Thug means…..I do like what are doing and creativity……but THUG in the African American world is not a good word, that would be my suggestion..

I agree with Ed. “Thug” has a negative connotation with many of the kids that we work with. This is not something that they would strive to look like, act like, be like…. Many of them are running as hard and as fast as they can from it and are faced with it every day. I like your creativity, and I love using the ideas from this site for my club. I would never use this particular theme in the club that I work with.

    Hey,

I used to know a guy named Ed Ross and a gal named Heather Blaylock at a little place we like to call “Central Texas” . I wonder what these people are up to? Hmmmmm….memories….
