Rave! Yes! Glow sticks, techno music, black lights! Lots of fun. This is a club that can be quite a bit different than the normal club. We order glowsticks online, we got them HERE, but you can get them HERE too. We also borrowed a black light. A strobe light is also key.
We even tried to sing club songs over a techno beat. That only worked for one song, then we reverted back to guitar. But it was really fun trying and the kids saw that we were willing to try new things – we laughed a lot.
Here is the plan… rave-club.pdf

Yes! We did this at our Young Life club and it was a blast. A lot of the stuff we just kind of goofed off with and it turned out to be a lot of fun. The glow stick “volleyball” was one of the best things that we did:
Split group into two teams.
Two leaders hold up a sheet that splits the room.
Each team has a ton of glow sticks, and the lights are off (only lights that were on were blacklights)
One leader says Go and each team just throws the glow sticks to the other side.
When the music stops, the team with the least amount of glow sticks on their side wins.
Everyone loved this, and even the leaders got into it!
What songs did ya’ll use for this club? Please and Thankyou!!
Jenny,
Unfortunately I don’t remember 🙁 I think you could do just upbeat and newer songs (less traditional YL songs for this club). A real opportunity would be the transitions between music/games/skit, hit it loud and hard with techno/rave type music. It could also be a great club for multiple 30 second dance parties. This might not work for most but one club I had a kid bring a keyboard that had electronic drumbeats and we played club music to fit the fast techno style drum beat. It was hilarious (especially for me).
